The traditional Thai dress is known as “Chut Thai” or “Thai Costume”. It is a beautiful and elegant attire that is often worn on special occasions such as weddings, festivals, and ceremonies.
For women, the traditional dress consists of a long-sleeved blouse called “Chut Thai Sabai” or “Sabai Blouse” that is usually made of silk and decorated with intricate embroidery or patterns. The blouse is paired with a long wrap-around skirt called “Pha Nung” or “Pha Thai”, which is also made of silk and has a similar design as the blouse.
The men’s traditional dress is called “Chut Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom” or “Royal Formal Attire”. It consists of a long-sleeved shirt made of silk or cotton, called “Chang Kben”, which is paired with loose-fitting pants called “Sarong” or “Chong Kraben”. The outfit is completed with a sash worn around the waist called “Sabai” and a headdress called “Ngob”.
Both men and women often wear gold or silver jewelry as an accessory to the traditional dress. The dress varies in style and design depending on the region of Thailand and the occasion it is worn for.
